Canada demands probe into Israeli army’s destruction of water well in Gaza

OTTOWA, Friday, August 16, 2024 (WAFA — The Ministry of International Development of Canada demanded an investigation into the Israeli forces’ destruction of a Canadian-funded water well in the Gaza Strip.

“Canada has contacted the Israeli government for more information on this incident, and we call for an investigation,” said spokeswoman Olivia Batten, according to a report by the Canadian Press.

In late July, activists on social media circulated photos of Israeli soldiers blowing up a water facility in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where Canada continues to provide aid.

The spokesperson said the destruction of the water well further deteriorates the “already dire water infrastructure and “exacerbates the hardships civilians face in accessing clean water.”
